Diego's Nemesis...

I have stated in the previous post how Diego changed from loving dad to hating him the day he came home. Well when Diego is going after him despite my best efforts, dad uses his cane to fend Diego off, pushing the rubber tip of his cane against him to push him back or lift him up and drop him on the other side of the barricade. He then of course gets a bit upset at him for ruining the end of his cane which he says is expensive and can only be gotten online.

So today something happened that has had me just rolling in laughter.

Dad came out to actually make his own popcorn and taquitos. Well Diego  went down once the barricade was up and started to get to work. He grabbed part of it and knocked it over so he could climb up then down. He was now attacking dads feet and walker he uses to sit on while in the kitchen.  Well I get up and walk over, as dad gives an annoyed sigh not wanting to deal with it today. He pokes Diego with the end of his cane to make him grab it then lifts him high up into the air and over to my arm.

Diego came down gently but once again he refused to let go of dads cane. A game of tug-of-war ensued. After a few tugs the cane was let go.. but NOT by Diego! I look down and the whole stopper and end of dad's cane is still in Diego's beak, who looks VERY proud of himself of course. I am trying to contain myself as dad just makes this face  while he stares at Diego. I cannot contain myself and just start laughing so hard. I reach up and take it gently from Diego who manages to tear a piece off in the process, and give it back to Dad while I just laugh.

I then put the harness on Diego and take him outside so we can just sit on the porch while dad is in the kitchen. We sit out there enjoying the nice breeze and time outside. Eventually though we need to come back inside. So I scoop him up and in we go. I take off the harness, set him down and go to put the barricade back up to find the end of the cane on the floor by the trashcan. I pick it up and just can't help but start laughing all over again. Diego's tried to take it from me a few times since.

Diego has won this battle, but will he win the war against the dreaded dad from the bedroom? Dad does have his own evil little cockatoo ( a lesser-sulfur crested) in his room. We shall see, but I'm betting on Diego winning this war. 😂 I love you Diego, your such a dee-te-dee.
